15th Annual Breast Cancer Research and Education Program

September 5-6, 2019

Registration Closed

On behalf of the Breast Cancer Research and Education Program planning committee, I would like to extend an invitation to all of you for this year's event, the 15th Annual Breast Cancer Research and Education Program. The program has evolved over the years from a small retreat to a more formal opportunity for trainees (Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows) to present their work in a familiar and collaborative atmosphere in preparation for job interviews and invited talks.

This year's event will be held on September 5th and 6th, 2019 at the San Luis Resort in Galveston, Texas. Registration will be required.

As in the past, we are inviting members of collaborating laboratories, and other potentially interested individuals from the greater Texas Medical Center area (the PI and one trainee) to attend and submit abstracts. This has been a unique aspect of the retreat, and one of the most productive. If you are interested in inviting a collaborator, please email me their contact information (chonghui.cheng@bcm.edu) as soon as possible so I can send out invitations.

The program will begin promptly at 9:00am on Thursday the 5th, and end in the afternoon on Friday the 6th. Lodging will be provided the night of the 5th. In addition to completely renovated rooms and conference center, the resort has several restaurants, pools, a water park, tennis courts, spa services, and beach access/activities (boating/fishing).

For trainees, we ask that they submit an abstract summarizing their research project by Monday, July 1st to Sanah Haque (snhaque@bcm.edu). Abstracts will be judged by the Baylor College of Medicine Breast Program faculty, and speakers will be chosen for oral presentations. Those not chosen for an oral presentation will have the opportunity to present a poster. Last year's talks were among the most impressive we've had. We're looking forward to another great set of talks and posters this year.

Best Regards,

The Retreat Planning Committee

Chonghui Cheng, M.D. Ph.D & Maryam Nemati Shafaee, M.D.
